website - creation

Given that is also the platform through which I'm documenting my A-Level Media Studies coursework I decided to use WIX as a platform for the creation of the website. As well as for other reasons ; It is modern, flexible and has various features which allowed me to follow a minimal style and modify everything according to my ideas rather than following a fixed template.

I decided to use a template as a base because of the many available built in features, I then changed and personalised all the wanted aspects according to the artists brand image. By clicking on the gallery you will be able to see screenshots of the website template used.

possibility to : embed videos - add social media links - having anchors and forms - redirect pages - user friendly organisation...

template

Firstly, I set the chosen categories and create separate pages for each, rather than anchors  based on a personal technical preference.

After this was established, I personalised each category and deleted certain ones such as the NEWS one . The deletion of this page as well as the exclusion of a MERCH one was done following the image portrayed by the artist. Given that the artist is an emerging one, with a more discreet presence on social media a news page would have little information and in regards to merch, the official artist does not have available merch and I believe the creation of common merch would contradict  AMA LOU's style and wouldn't be profitable.

The entire website is characterised by minimalism and change of conventions. The header of the website includes; the artist's name, AMA LOU in red the motif colour, in a handwritten font which represents her signature (the same one used in the digipak)  and the main menu in white which changes to red once clicked. This element is conventionally freezed throughout the entire website at the top of the page as well as the footer. On the other hand the social media logos (in light grey) symbolising the official artist's accounts aren't positioned in the footer challenging a common convention, being placed vertically in the right top corner of the website.

The home page includes the latest release by the artist, which in this case is the TBC's music video, the background is a B&W edited photograph of the model which represents the artist, a central button which redirects to the single anchor of the page where the music video is placed. The bio page includes a short description of the artist mixing information gathered from various sources, from her Spotify and Apple music official pages and different interviews. It is placed in the right side of the page a white box and the text being black in order to create a contrast with the background, being the same one as the home page's. Then the Music page which represents the discography, changes background, with another photo (grey sky) which is the same one used in the digipak for aesthetic reasons and includes the centralised cover of her latest and first album with the logos of the listening platforms (in white to create contrast) in which it's available, redirecting to each respectively. For the tour's page I added all of the upcoming artist's live perfomances together with dates and locations and a button redirecting to the website from which the tickets can be bought (from where I also collected the necessary information).  Furthermore the gallery has recent, more informal pictures of the "artist" all taken by me. Finally the contact page has a completion form which gives the audience the possibility to "contact" the "artist". The last three pages as you will be able to notice have a light grey background changing from the initial photographs, to give a lighter appearance.

The background and color choices were all taken after inserting all of the relevant information, trying different pictures and color schemes based on which would fit best for the general aspect tried to portray for the artist and marketing for the music video. My main intention was to create a successful and pleasant branding image, personalised and different from the original one in order not to plagiarise AMA LOU and create a final original music promotion package which would also be effective.
