The choice regarding the main character was one of the first decisions taken in the planning process of the music promotion package. It inspired and guided most of the rest of the decisions such as location, props and even script of the music video as well as aesthetics of the other components. 

 

I decided to focus on a single character as an aria rather than multiple ones. Based on the intention to create an "amplify effect" as described by Goodwin's theory, making the character stand out and create an appeal to the audience in relation to the character's actions and the complementing abstract cinematography. I chose this model given her characteristics which could be considered as appropriate and representative for a grunge and diverse style, fitting to my ideas in relation to the song chosen.

Although when considering the audiences's expectations, it doesn't necessary represent the common features associated the Pop and R&B genres. Which supports and reflects my aim of creating a more conceptual but interpretative product/media text.

Furthermore my familiarity with the character contributed to the choice, given that it gave me the chance to experiment more with the filming of the music video, photography and general guideline of the production, following more of a genuine "performance"

I firstly contacted her in person in order to explain in-depth the concept of the music video and other components, then we communicated via whatsapp and social media to establish the details required for the filming session and photoshoots.

The model, in this case will embody the message and feeling the song is trying to transmit (through my interpretation) - by representing the artist and will therefore be the face of the entire music promotion package.This decision was mostly based around the common convention and presence of the artist in their own music videos and album art for this genre.
